Bio
With 20 years of accounting experience, Cathy Davis, CPA sees past tax forms to the real issues and concerns of her clients. Her clients have the comfort of knowing that their taxes are being treated with experience and personal care. Well versed in the complexities of business, individual, estate and trust taxation, she relishes the unique challenges of tax planning and preparation in an ever-changing landscape.
Cathy’s background with a variety of entities and tax issues makes her a valuable asset to MSPC’s team. Whether it’s succession planning, supporting clients during tax audits, or deciphering federal, state and local taxes, Cathy’s experience helps her to assist her clients when quality truly matters most.
Some of her areas of expertise include working with franchisees as well as high-net worth individuals in all aspects of tax planning and preparation.
Davis is an active member of the Moore Stephens North America Tax Community, recently contributing to their Doing Business in the U.S. publication. Davis enjoys volunteering with Eva’s Village and Habitat for Humanity.
She is the proud mother of a college-aged son and also cares for several four-legged children. Cathy reads avidly and particularly enjoys cracking open historical fiction. She also loves boating and simply taking it easy on the beach.

Michael J. Halkias, CPA

Bio
Michael Halkias joined MSPC in 2001 and became a Principal in 2008. He specializes in providing audit and assurance services to both private and publicly traded corporations with extensive experience in the maritime, hospitality, and healthcare industries. Prior to joining MSPC, Michael worked at as an auditor at one of the “Big Four” public accounting firms and as an analyst for an international insurance conglomerate.
Michael is a member of MSPC’s Accounting and Auditing Committee, SEC Business Practice Group, and functions as a part of the firm’s research and quality control teams. Michael has expertise addressing U.S. financial reporting and compliance issues for both private and public entities. His membership on the SEC Committee of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants ensures that he is knowledgeable about the most recent developments in public company audits and actions of the SEC and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.
He is a former member of the Content Committee of the AICPA Board of Examiners, which is responsible for the technical content of the Uniform CPA. He is served as a member of the Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) sub-committee of the Content Committee which reviews and approves content for inclusion in the FAR section of the Uniform CPA Examination.
Michael is extensively involved with the planning and supervision of some MSPC’s largest international audits and has worked extensively with independent affiliated firms to conduct field-work in England, Australia, China, Canada, Scotland, Sweden, Turkey, Greece, Singapore, the Czech Republic, and the Republic of Cyprus. Michael is experienced in financial statement requirements under both U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards (as adopted by the International Accounting Standards Board).

Bio
Richard Montalbano is the principal-in-charge of MSPC’s New York City office and a member of the Firm's Executive Committee. He is the principal for closely held businesses and public companies within and without the United States. Rick travels internationally several times a year to meet with clients and potential clients.
Rick has experience in the practical interpretation and application of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rules regulating publicly traded companies and is knowledgeable in both initial public offerings and periodic reporting requirements. He has a unique area of expertise in consulting to the maritime industry.
Rick is also experienced in income tax compliance both within the United States and internationally. He regularly assists clients of the member firms of Moore Stephens International.

Len Sprishen, J.D., L.L.M.

LenSprishen, J.D., LL.M., is Tax Manager at the Cranford, New Jersey and New York City offices of MSPC, Certified Public Accountants and Advisors.
Len provides tax advice to MSPC’s clients and worldwide affiliates on a broad range of federal, international, and state and local tax matters. He is regularly involved in a variety of tax projects, including mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, inbound and outbound investment structuring and compliance, U.S. income tax treaty analysis, tax-exempt entity operations, and taxing nexus reviews.
Prior to joining MSPC, Len was a tax associate in the corporate group of a large New Jersey-based law firm.
